Regional council chairs meet.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE Memo Musa is to report to the April board meeting on the cost of bringing regional council chairs together for a face-to-face meeting.
President Marion Guy told the February board meeting that she and Nuku had invited regional council chairs to a teleconference and nine (of 11) had attended. Issues raised during the teleconference included training and support for new chairs; support for developing business plans and the difficulty of projecting three years out; the need to update the regional council handbook; increasing communication with neighbouring council chairs; communication between colleges and sections and regional councils; and a request for an annual face-to-face meeting.
Chairs noted that, in the past, there had been support for them but there was no longer a budget for this. One option was bringing them together around the time of NZNO's annual general meeting. The board asked Musa to look at the cost of a face-to-face meeting.
Another teleconference was scheduled for last month and the regional council chairs had been asked to consider their work plans and how they aligned with the strategic plan, the relevance of the constitution and the structure of regional councils before the meeting.
The president and kaiwhakahaere intend to have a similar teleconference with section and college chairs. *
