Red Cross youth classes: Classes for youths in basic first aid, safety and baby-sitter skills will be offered during the holiday vacation Wednesday through Dec. 29.
The first-aid class, designed for children in fourth grade and older, will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the South Coast Service Center, 300 Anderson Ave. Cost is $20.
A "Super Safety" class for children 6 to 10 years old is intended to prepare them for being home alone, answering the door or phone and finding constructive ways to amuse themselves. It will be at the Service Center from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday. Cost is $4.
The class for baby sitters is designed for youths 11 to 15 years old. It will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 28 and 29 at the Service Center. The cost is $34.

Victorian Christmas tour: The historic Hughes House in Cape Blanco State Park north of Port Orford will be open for holiday tours this weekend, Wednesday and again Dec. 29 and 30.
The 103-year-old Victorian home will be decorated in the style of a century ago. Tours will end in the kitchen where visitors will be treated to warm spiced cider and cookies. Members of a local bell choir will fill the air with Christmas music.
The open house will be from noon to 5 p.m. each day. To reach Hughes House, take Highway 101 to Cape Blanco Road, four miles north of Port Orford. Turn west and go four miles to the turnoff for the house.
The nearby Cape Blanco Lighthouse also will be open for tours from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 29 and 30. There is no admission charge for the tours, but donations are taken to help pay for future restoration projects and displays.
Christmas Eve candlelight: A candlelight service open to all will be held at the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve.
Those attending will have an opportunity to sing Christmas songs, listen to special music by the choir and participate in a candlelighting ceremony. Children are welcome, and care will be provided for those under 5 years old if desired. Call 547-3400 for information.
