Regional Municipalities and Water Resources Ministry/ Honoring Ceremony.

Muscat, July 2 (ONA) --- The Regional Municipalities and Water Resources Ministry today organized an honoring ceremony for participants in activities of the World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) under the auspices of Hamad bin Sulaiman al Ghareebi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Regional Municipalities Affairs. In a speech marking this occasion, Eng. Said bin Darwish al Alawi, Director General of Health Control and Wastewater said that the Ministry celebrates WCRD annually through organizing a number of activities that deepen awareness towards the importance of consumer rights and highlighting continuous efforts in this field, as well as presenting initiatives for special need categories and for those relevant to charitable aspects. He explained that the programme of marking WCRD this year included organizing a number of activities, such as, workshops for heads of the departments of food control and veterinary and heads of awareness in the regions, as well as organizing seminars at the Omani Woman Associations, in addition to organizing field visits to the laboratories relevant to health and environmental aspects affiliated to the Ministry, slaughterhouses and wastewater plants in a bid to enhance health awareness among all members of the society. The Director General of Health Control and Wastewater reviewed the most important activities that were organized to mark WCRD, such as, organizing a campaign titled "Food Awareness and Consumer Safety", in conjunction with the National Association for Cancer Awareness which included awareness lectures, cultural and sports activities, as well as an open day at Al Qurum Trade Centre for children affected with cancer and their families with participation of some governmental and private departments. Then, a documentary was screened highlighting all these activities and achievements of the Regional Municipalities and Water Resources Ministry in this regard. --- Ends/AH/KH
