Refugees band in party invite.

COVENTRY'S recently formed Second Hand Band is organising a Come and Play Party on Saturday, for anyone interested in hearing how they are getting on.

Members of the band - several of whom first came to Britain as refugees seeking asylum - have already received donations of dozens of second-hand instruments to get them started.

Organiser Jane Howard, of Baginton Road, Styvechale, said: "We could still do with a viola, a saxophone and all sorts of drums. but people have been really generous in searching through their attics to find long-abandoned guitars and clarinets.

"Now we are inviting everyone to either come and listen or join in during our free performance at Co-op Rooms, in Corporation Street."

The event runs from 5-7pm and includes free refreshments with an international flavour.

For more information - or to donate an instrument - phone Jane on 024 7641 6946.
