Reflections.

Reflections is the National PTA's cultural arts program for students in grades K-12 developed to interest children, parents, teachers and communities in the arts. Over 500,000 students across the nation participated in the Reflections program last year.

Each year, PTAs around the country invite students to create a work of art based on a theme in one of four categories: literature, music, photography and the visual arts. This year's theme is, "Imagine That."

Any student attending a school with a PTA/PTSA sponsoring the program may participate. Students can create their entries at home or in class. Entries are judged on creative ability and interpretation of the theme.

First, second, third and honorable mention awards are given in each of the four grade divisions. An Outstanding Interpretation winner is selected in each category. All participants receive certificates, and each has a book donated in his or her name to the the school library. Top winners at the national level receive prizes such as a trip to the National PTA convention, cash, encyclopedias and art supplies.

Four individual $750 scholarships are available for high school seniors who enter the Reflections program. Students can use the scholarships to further their education in the literary, music, photography or visual arts fields.
