Ref sends himself off after row.

A REFEREE abandoned a football match yesterday after sending himself off. Shame-faced Andy Wain, 39, gave himself a red card after losing his cool while arguing with a goalkeeper.

The clash erupted during a Sunday League game between Peterborough North End and Royal Mail AYL.

Afterwards, nightclub bouncer Andy said his reaction had been 'totally unprofessional'.

He added: 'I'd like to carry on refereeing but I've told the league secretary I want some time out of the game.'

He blamed his behaviour on problems off the field.

Andy said: 'The day before the game, my father-in-law died and I'd been told my wife had a serious illness.'

'When I got to the ground, a minute's silence was being held for a club official who died from a heart attack at the age of 38. It turned out to be a friend.' #An amateur player was shot after being sent off for butting an opponent yesterday.

He was taken to hospital after a man in a Scream mask opened fire as he sat in his car.

The gunman fled the scene at Christleton, Cheshire.
