Ref Jeff gets his own name in book.

Jeff Winter spent his career in football entering other people's names into his notebook ... he's now having to get used to signing his own name in his own book!

The Middlesbrough-born former match official has lifted the lid on his sometimes controversial and never dull years as a top class referee in his hard-hitting autobiography Who's The B*****d In The Black?

That's why Winter, who lives in Ingleby Barwick, is currently doing the rounds of the region's bookshops, where he's proved a smash hit with the punters. Ports of call included the MFC Retail store in the Riverside Stadium and Jeff will be at Borders Bookstore, Teesside Park, on Saturday (1pm).

In the book, he lifts the lid on his years as a Boro "boot boy", when he would travel the length and breadth of England in support of his heroes.

Jeff also pulls no punches when looking back over a quarter of a century as a referee, recounting high-profile run-ins with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson.

* Who's The B*****d In The Black (Ebury) is on sale now priced pounds 18.99.
