Ref's Ton of woe for Tom; MORTON 2 AYR 1.

THOMAS O'WARE grabbed a vital goal, scooped the man of the match prize - but was still fuming at the final whistle.

The Morton skipper was raging over ref Mat Northcroft's decision to chalk off Aidan Nesbitt's volley.

Northcroft reversed his decision to award the strike after being late to spot linesman Paul O'Neill's flag, raised for Jai Quitongo standing in front of keeper Greg Fleming.

O'Ware grabbed the equaliser with a header after Kevin Nisbet's opener before Gary Oliver struck the late winner. He said: "The referee didn't give us anything."

Ayr gaffer Ian McCall was also furious, believing Gary Harkins had been denied a "stonewall" penalty.

And Ton boss Jim Duffy said: "The referee and his assistants were very poor for both teams."
