Reemey Receives Patent; Names New Products

A patent for its "Typar" spunbond polypropylene composite separator sheet has been awarded to Reemay. Old Hickory, TN. The separator pad, which can be used up to 50 times and then returned to Reemay for recycling, is designed to protect layers of empty cans and bottles during transport to the filling plant.

Continuing its emphasis on the production of more than simple nonwoven fabrics, Reemay also recently unveiled the trademarks for its new value added products. "Durapelle" is the trade name that has been established for a new family of pattern bonded nonwoven products and "Synergex" is the name of a line of nonwoven, calendered or flat bonded composite structures.

A Reemay spokesperson said the company will manufacture Durapelle and Synergex on its recently installed Faustel converting equipment purchased from Mosinee, which gives Reemay custom bonding, laminating, embossing, slitting and coating capabilities. The two new brand names join the existing line up of Reemay spunbond products - "Typelle," a needlepunched soft structured fabric; "Typar" polypropylene; "Biobarrier" herbicide impregnated polypropylene for root control; and "Reemay" polyester nonwoven. All manufacturing continues to be performed at its one facility in Old Hickory, although the company has greatly expanded its European distribution and marketing efforts in the past year.

Reemay has indicated that a variety of concept samples of the new products are presently available for customer review. Particular emphasis is being placed on implementing full scale commercial programs in the very near future.
