Reed this... and weep!

PATRICK REED has been watching the war film The Patriot to get fired up for his first home Ryder Cup.

The world No.8 was unbeaten on his debut at Gleneagles, where he cheekily shushed the Scottish crowd. And the Texan said seeing Mel Gibson fighting the British in the American War of Independence has put him in the mood for another battle. "I feel pride and have that heavy heart watching it because he's doing everything he can for his country," he said.

"Wearing red, white and blue and carrying the flag means so much to me. I get very emotional."
