Redcap's girl's attack on Blair.

Byline: By LYNN McPHERSON

A DEAD soldier's dad who staged a protest outside the Labour conference told yesterday how his son's lover confronted Tony Blair.

Reg Keys spoke for the first time of Scot Joanne Richardson's attack on the PM over the death of military policeman Tom Keys, 20.

Tom was unarmed when he was cornered and murdered with five other Redcaps near Basra, Iraq.

Joanne, 24, also a Redcap, from Penicuik, Midlothian, was with the Keys family at the memorial service for the war in Iraq when she met Blair.

Reg, from Wales, who threatened to hang himself in protest against the war in Brighton last week, said: 'Jo is a typical feisty Scottish lass.

'We were in the Guildhall after the memorial service and Blair was there.

'Jo ripped into him, asking him why some of our forces in Iraq were poorly equipped.

'She asked why various equipment had been removed from soldiers. Blair just gave her the stock answer that he would look into it.'

Joanne and Tom had been part of the same unit helping to train the Iraqi police force.

But she had returned to Scotland days before the tragedy because her mother was ill.
