Red Oak Software releases Legacy Navigator graphical modeling for complex integration.
Legacy Navigator dovetails with Red Oak's Legacy Integrator to simplify the integration of complex legacy applications.
Legacy Navigator includes a Software Development Kit with a visual process editor and a Server-based Process Engine with tight coupling to the Legacy Integrator Runtime Server Module. Legacy Navigator allows the incorporation of IBM mainframe and iSeries application transactions and data into any of the major enterprise integration systems. All components of Legacy Navigator are written entirely in Java and have been designed for server-based implementation.
"Our customers are some of the largest and most sophisticated IT organizations in the world. Their legacy systems, both internal and outsourced, mirror this fact--the applications are large, complex, vitally strategic components of their overall technology structure. All of these applications are comprised of hundreds of screens representing thousands of individual interaction transactions. Legacy Navigator is a state-of-the-art XML process modeling technology that permits these transactions to be visually defined, captured, programmatically integrated and easily maintained." said George Cummings, Red Oak president and chief executive officer. "We are extremely pleased that one of the largest cable companies in the United States already has this innovative combination in production."
The primary component is the Process Model Editor, which defines the transitions between screens in the target application and facilitates the construction of new models. This visual definition also simplifies the maintenance of these complex navigation paths, because changes need only be made to the graphical process model.
Jim Ladd, founder of professional services organization Wazee Group, commented, "We are helping a leading broadband services provider reduce time and money spent on customer support operations by integrating web applications to two back-end billing systems. Our team has been extremely impressed with the speed and ease of development offered by Legacy Navigator.
We have implemented 67 transactions, using 157 screens and 3250 fields. Many of them are quite complex; one transaction involves 37 screens, 29 decision points and 19 exceptions paths. Fortunately, Legacy Navigator's XML-based repository encapsulates all of the details associated with the screen layout, and the server-based Process Engine handles the complexity of accessing specific screen components. In theory, these transactions could have been implemented without Legacy Navigator. In practice, we won't attempt a terminal access interface without it."
Legacy Navigator and Legacy Integrator Development Server bundles start at $30,000. Production Server bundles start at $45,000. All components are available immediately.
Each of Red Oak's Transaction Integration products includes a Software Development Kit and Server Runtime Environment that allows all 390, AS/400, Tandem, Digital, Unix and HTML-based application interactions to be seamlessly integrated with any of the major EAI messaging systems, from vendors such as IBM CrossWorlds, webMethods, Vitria, SeeBeyond and TIBCO.
These Java products also provide customers with fast, efficient programmatic connectivity to Application Server solutions, from vendors such as BEA, IBM, Oracle and Sun, and any of the major enterprise systems, including Siebel, Peoplesoft, SAP, and JD Edwards. This functionality enables large corporations to capitalize on their massive investment in legacy applications and extend their reach to the Internet applications necessary for eBusiness.
