AUSTRONIC INSTRUMENTS INC.
Indumat recycling system for film, tape, monofilaments, bags, etc. A shredder, which preheats the material while cutting it into small pieces, is linked directly to the extruder. Preheating material saves half the horsepower in subsequent extrusion. Coarse filter ahead of the double slide-plate fine filter in the extruder removes large contaminants and thus prolongs life of fine filter. Hot die-face or strand pelletizing completes the process. Outputs to 2500 lb/hr.
Lines from Sikoplast GmbH are custom-built for most plastics. Use proprietary grinding and drying technology and a conical single-screw extruder connected to a polycondensation reactor, which upgrades PET's I.V. from 0.66 to 0.80. Also systems for recycling scrap into blown film, pipe, or profile.

Revive systems from Sant' Andrea Novara of Italy process mixed resins contaminated with 5-20% paper, 5-8% aluminum, 510% wood, and 1-5% organic matter. Systems mix and extrude a narrow sheet 0.250.5 in. thick, which is hot-melt granulated for injection or extrusion. Includes shredder, granulator, 30:1 L/D extruder with 12 temperature zones, rolls, Ph-neutralizing water tank, hot-melt granulator, cyclone dryer, and deduster. Processes 220-990 lb/hr, depending on density.
JOHN BROWN RECYCLING SYSTEMS KVAERNER U.S. INC.
Complete recycling systems for post-consumer PE film and PET or HDPE bottles. Produce clean flake or pellets at 1000 to 3000 lb/hr. Include bale breakers, granulators, materials handling, and prewash, hot-wash and hydrocyclone separation systems. Also complete extrusion, polymer filtration, and pelletizing systems (strand or water-ring), plus system-wide control packages.
License Partek Corp.'s HDPE recycling line, which has a proprietary "single-pass" granulation system that produces uniform square flake with minimal fines. Two granulators each process up to 2500 lb/hr. A bale breaker and rotating trommel remove loose caps and dirt. After granulation comes an enclosed, high-shear, cylindrical washing tank. Next, a hydrocyclone removes "heavies" like PVC, PET, metal, and dirt. After spin drying, kinetic-energy scrubbers remove labels and glue. Dust and fines are removed by two aspirators. Flake is metered into an extruder with a vacuum pump that draws off moisture and volatiles. Melt is filtered with rotary screen changers and water-ring pelletized.
EREMA NORTH AMERICA INC.
Complete repelletizing systems for in-house, post-industrial or post-consumer plastics recycling. Patented "warm-feed" system predensifies, size reduces and prewarms scrap before it enters the extruder. This minimizes heat history, resulting in low-material degradation. Recycling systems include automatic back-flushing screen changers or continuous "laser" filter systems, depending on the type and amount of contamination in the scrap.
Systems available for PE, PP, PA, PET and most other materials at rates from 200 to 3000 lb/hr.

MAGNETIC SEPARATION SYSTEMS
BottleSort system for commingled post-consumer plastic containers uses optical sensors to segregate whole bottles into three sub-categories: PET and PVC, unpigmented HDPE and PP, and mixed-color HDPE. X-ray sensor subsorts PVC.
Elpac system removes metallic contaminants from chopped plastic. Detects aluminum and lead contaminants down to 1/500 gram. Removal efficiency is over 98% with less than 1% product loss.
TPVC system detects PVC in mixed plastic bottles. In PET recycling, PVC contamination typically reduced from 1000 ppm to less than 10 ppm.

MODERN MACHINERY OF BEAVERTON
Cryogenic cleaning system uses liquid nitrogen and water for flotation/separation. No soaps or caustic chemicals. Ground material is fed into the cryogenic chamber, where its temperature is reduced to -200 F. Brittle material is metered into a high-speed impacter where contaminants are drawn off by aspiration. Clean material is auger-fed to the float/sink process that separates PET from HDPE. Hot-air spin drying is followed by screening to remove PVC and fines. Capacities of 1000 and 2000 lb/hr.

Designs/manufactures machine vision systems capable of separating plastics by resin and color. Installations include flake sorters for separating colored and clear PET, caps from NHDPE milk jugs, and mixed color HDPE color into individual color streams. Styromelt PD2000 plastic densification machine processes EPS waste at up to 20 lb/hr. Close temperature control prevents burning but reduces more than 95% of the volume of EPS foam products. Melted EPS is cast into bricks and ejected for recycling or use as an efficient fuel. Three to four garbage bags of EPS waste, or 1000 foam cups, make a 2-lb brick in about 3 min. PD2000 machine measures 81 x 45 x 23 in. Smaller model DP1000 can process up to 20 lb/hr.
TEX AMERICA, INC.
Washing systems from Costarelli USA for bottles and film to 5000 lb/hr. Guarantees 100% paper removal, while special floating tank provides HDPE/PET separation. Systems include up to 740-hp densifiers with outputs to 5000 lb/hr and automatic guillotines with up to 100-ton cutting force.
Systems from Starlinger (Austria) include conveyor, shredder/densifier, extruder, double backwash filter, pelletizing head, vibration screen, drying centrifuge, and cyclone. Capacities of 300-2000 lb/hr. Also offers a separation head that can remove up to 40% contamination. Waste from this system can be used with commingled plastic waste to make plastic lumber profiles on company's Intrumat.
