Recycle festive trees.

PEOPLE in the region are being advised to recycle their real Christmas trees, once the festivities are over.

Northumberland County Council has published a list of sites across the county where people can take their trees once they come down.

All household waste recovery centres across Northumberland will take them - and a number of collection points have been arranged within communities to maximise the number that can be recycled.

Coun Alan Thompson said: "Traditional Christmas trees are a natural resource and it is important that we recycle them." Details of the collection points can be found online at www.northumberland.gov.uk/waste People are asked to ensure there is no string or metal attached to their tree.
