Recycle festive trees.

PEOPLE in the region are being advised to recycle their real Christmas trees, once the festivities are over.

Northumberland County Council has published a list of sites across the county where people can take their trees once they come down.

All household waste recovery centres across Northumberland will take them - and a number of collection points have been arranged within communities to maximise the number that can be recycled.

Coun Alan Thompson said: "Traditional Christmas trees are a natural resource and it is important that we recycle them." Details of the collection points can be found online at People are asked to ensure there is no string or metal attached to their tree.
