The Scottish economy had its best month of the year so far in September, according to a new report.And leading economist Tony Mackay predicts a boost in economic growth over the rest of 1996.
But he was more gloomy in his reckonings about jobless figures.
He said there were newly-announced investment projects totalling pounds 90million.
And he described the new schemes as "very encouraging".
But he forecasts that unemployment has "bottomed out and is unlikely to fall much below 190,000 in the near future".
