Record hoax top of flops for TV stars.

TV CHAT show hosts Richard and Judy have fallen victim to a cruel hoax.

The This Morning couple have been contacted by a conman impersonating pop producer Pete Waterman, of Stock Aiken and Waterman fame.

The man contacted them a few weeks ago, claiming he was Waterman and started discussing the possibility of producing a single for them.

At the time, Richard Madeley said: "Pete tells me that if just 150,000 This Morning viewers buy the single, it will get to number 1.

"I've always wanted to be on Top of The Pops."

Judy Finnigan was looking forward to performing on what was to be a cover version of a rock classic.

But, according to the Coventry-born music man, the top TV couple are just the latest victims of a series of hoaxes that have been launched in his name.

"I am constantly getting people ringing round pretending to be me," he said.

"I don't know anything about this single I'm supposed to be doing with Richard and Judy, other than what I've heard from someone who read something in a paper."

Another recent hoax victim was a nine-year-old girl who was told Pete would love to record a single with her.
