Record View: Wonder woman.

ARMY medic Jan Pilgrim signed up for a brief tour of duty.

Fourteen years later, she's now a major and has received the highest honours for her work.

Jan's actions on the frontline in Iraq, where she treated soldiers under fire, earned the nickname Florence of Arabia, She has won a rare Royal Red Cross - the nursing equal of a VC.

Back home in Glasgow, like all great leaders, she praises her colleagues and staff and says the honour is for the team, not her as an individual.

No wonder she's been short-listed by Cosmopolitan magazine for the Ultimate Woman of the Year awards.
