BA MAY be counting the cost of their dodgy dealings but unscrupulous garages are still getting away with cutting corners.

Consumer watchdog Which? found that 92 per cent of firms failed to repair faults or charged for work that had not been carried out during maintenance checks.

More than half took no action to fix potentially lethal brakes and up to a quarter sent cars back to customers with under-inflated tyres.

Not only are they ripping off customers, they are putting their lives in danger.

The Office of Fair Trading need to crack down on the cowboy mechanics in Britain's 26,000 garages before someone is killed.
