Reconstruction of 20 schools hit by flood, militancy approved.
PESHAWAR -- Officials of various departments in Khyber Pakhtukhwa unanimously approved 20 extensively damaged schools in Swat district with total cost of Rs 452.200 million during a meeting held under the chair of Amer Afaq Deputy Commissioner Swat.
During the meeting of District Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Center (DRRC), the officials of Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Provincial Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority , Construction and Works, Education, Finance and Planning Department along with Consultant Halcrow attended the meeting. These 20 schools had been fully damaged during flood and militancy.
Deputy Commissioner Swat, directed all government departments to ensure timely commencement of work, Quality assurance and timely completion of these schools in the best public interest. Deputy Commissioner Swat assured full support, facilitation and cooperation in terms of developmental intervention in District Swat.
He added that as District Swat being a militants and disaster affected area, therefore, reconstruction of these schools is very much necessary in order to keep and restore peace in the area and for continuation of tremendous contribution in the field of quality education and to achieve millennium development goal 2025.
In this connection, he also paid special thanks to PDMA-PaRRSA and donor agency for funding and supporting the reconstruction of schools in Malakand Division and Swat in particular.
