Reconstructed houses of worship mentioned in BCCI report to be completed in 2014.

Manama, Dec. 30. (BNA) -- Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments for Islamic Affairs Dr. Farid bin Ya'qoob Al-Meftah has affirmed the wise leadership's interest to finalise the issue of houses of worship mentioned in the report of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BCCI).

He said that the issue represented a top priority in the Ministry's work and was being carried out in coordination with the Ja'afari Endowment, in line with the Royal directives embedded in BCCI's recommendations, affirming keenness to rebuild those houses of worship and rectify their legal situation, within a legal framework that preserved the sanctity and status of houses of worship.

He was speaking as he inspected today, along with the Board Chairman of the Ja'afari Endowments Shaikh Mohsen Al-Asfoor, Director of Ja'fari Endowments Ali Al Haddad and Head of Architectural Projects Abdulrahman Hazeem, a number of projects of reconstruction of houses of worship mentioned in BCCI's report, including mosques of Um Al Banin, Al-Rasool Al-A'dham, Al-Emam Al-Hadi, Abu Talib and Al-Emam Al-Sajjad, and directed contractors to finalise them in time.

He said the government had allocated a budget of BD 3,389,840 for the reconstruction of houses of worship projects, in line with the Royal directives, noting that they will be completed in 2014.

He affirmed support to the keynote speech delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, as he chaired yesterday the Cabinet meeting at Sakhir Palace, in the presence of the Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and HRH Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, in which he stressed the need to take care of religious and various platforms through counteracting attempts to make them venues to fuel hatred and sectarian fanatism so as to preserve Bahrain's deep-rooted values of co-existence, acceptance of others and cohesion of the social fabric.

The Ja'afari Endowments Board Chairman Shaikh Mohsen Al Asfoor said that the Ja'afari Endowments Directorate had taken charge of the issue of houses of worship reconstruction, noting all details will be announced to public.

He added that a total of ten projects had been completed, and the remaining 15 ones are currently being reconstructed.
