Rear view mirror.

THE most abiding image of the week for me came when Joleon Lescott scored for England in the Euro 2012 game against France.

He simply threw every sinew in the direction of the ball and got it into the net.

Joleon grew up in Quinton and went to Four Dwellings School - after earlier surviving being hit by a car which has left him with that distinctive forehead.

After playing for Wolves and Everton, he's now with Premiership title-winning Manchester City.

But while some footballers seem miserable when they've scored, the look on Joleon's face was so childlike with happiness it could have been that of a five-year-old boy.

You get the feeling that here is one footballer at least who realises how lucky he is.

And is determined to make every second chance count.

Go, Jo, go...
