Ready to burst.
I love to joke around, and most of my friends do, too. One day I wrote, "AWESOME ends with ME and UGLY starts with U" in my friend's planner. The next day, she went to the counselor with her mom and told on me. She knew I was just joking! Yes, I probably shouldn't have done it, but she's a drama queen and too insecure to take a joke. I just don't understand why she had to make such a big deal out of it and bring her parents into it. I'm ready to scream at her.
Dear Ready To Burst,
I get that you wish she'd laughed off your "joke," but going forward, no one wants to be called ugly. Friends are supposed to build each other up, not tear each other down. Right now, rather than scream at her, take the high road and say, "I'm sorry I wrote what I wrote." And start working on being more sensitive. How? By asking yourself, "How would I feel if I were that person?"
