Ready for festival fun.

THIS weekend sees the return of the Mouth of the Tyne festival to Tynemouth and South Shields.

Thousands of people were expected to attend the free fun today and tomorrow.

The festival is a weekend of world-class street entertainment, live music and special one-off performances, and has become one of the region's biggest events.

Highlights include a sell-out concert by chart-topping Irish band The Script, a pageant boasting hundreds of local schoolchildren, a fireworks display and a stunning street parade featuring a nine metre-tall animatronic insect.

Street performers and musicians from countries such as Australia, Canada, France and Spain will all make North Tyneside and South Tyneside their home for the weekend.

And the mix of entertainment on show includes contortion and dance, giant street walkers, magicians and even a digital funf air. Events will run all day at both venues. Visit www.mouthofthetynefestival. com for more details.
