Reading plays pivotal role in building academic skills of future generation: VC MUET.

HYDERABAD -- The reading plays pivotal role in building the academic skills of the future generation and there is the need of setting up libraries in the academic institutions so that the students could develop their proficiency in the related subjects.

These views were expressed by the Vice Chancellor Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Uqaialy while inaugurating 'Zahid Suleman Memon Library' at Mehran University Higher Secondary Public School Jamshoro on Monday.

The library has been established by Suleman Memon Family in memory of Zahid Suleman who lost his life in Karachi in 2015 during an attempt of snatching of Cellular phone set.

It is the fifth library which set up by Suleman Memon Family in different educational institutions of Sindh.

The Vice Chancellor said that a health atmosphere could be brought in the society by motivating the future builders to adopt right direction of success with reading the books in libraries.

The importance of libraries in strengthening the mental capability of the nations cannot be ignored, he said and added that setting up the maximum libraries in the society would open new vistas of success, progress and prosperity.

He informed that Mehran University has taken edge among other higher learning institutions of Sindh by converting the main digital library into green and environmental friendly place of reading which remained open for 12 hours a day.

The university management was planning to provide round the clock reading facility in the main digital library, he added.

He highly appreciated the spirit of Suleman Memon Family for doing the noble job of establishing libraries in the educational institutions and hoped that others would also follow the footprints of the family and help in setting up maximum numbers of libraries in the province.

The Vice Chancellor Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam Prof. Dr. Mujeebudin Sehrai who also attended the inaugural ceremony as guest of honour, appreciated the efforts of Suleman Memon Family and offered them to set up a library also at Sindh Agriculture University.

Suleman Memon and his wife Madam Mumtaz while sharing the memories of their deceased son Zahid Suleman vowed to set up maximum libraries in memory of their son. They on the occasion announced the setting up of the sixth library of its kind in Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam.

Among others, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Taha Hussain Ali, Registrar Dr. Abdul Waheed Umrani, Principal Public School Prof. Nadir Ali Khawaja and former Vice Chancellor Mehran University Abdul Ahad Abro also attended the inaugural ceremony.
