Readers' Poems: DOES ANYONE CARE?

Byline: G SNOWDON

AN OLD man stood at his garden gate There was a sadness in his eyes People passed by without a glance All of them, too busy to realise He only wanted a friendly smile Just someone to pass the time of day Or someone to stop, and talk for a while But no-one seemed to have time to delay So he just stands there, with his memories Of loved ones, long passed away Knowing, he won't have long to wait Till he meets them all again someday But until then, he lived in hope Someone, someday will say 'Hello' And restore his faith in mankind.
