Joel Neimeyer, program officer at the Rasmuson Foundation, received the Louis T. Delgado Distinguished Grantmaker Award for 2009. The award was presented by Native Americans in Philanthropy. Neimeyer is in his fourth year of an assignment to the foundation through a personnel agreement with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and the Indian Health Service. He is a commissioned corps officer, holding the rank of commander, with the U.S. Public Health Service. Neimeyer is a licensed engineer, whose work has focused on incorporating space in health care facilities for dental and behavioral health services. His work with the foundation led to a new model for providing oral health care in rural Alaska.
