Rare wedding; News in brief.

REDCAR: Redcar's historic almshouses are to host only their sixth wedding in 335 years. Steven Parratt, a deputy headteacher, and Maxine Hulme, an IT teacher, will wed in the 17th century chapel of Sir William Turner's almshouses on Saturday. The couple live in Rochdale and will travel to Kirkleatham for the ceremony. The almshouses have a private chapel and every wedding there needs a special licence from the office of the Archbishop of Canterbury. There have been so few weddings there because there must be a connection between the bride or groom and the almshouses. Mr Parratt is the nephew of resident Doreen Cook.
