Rare home defeat at double.
At Huddersfield, Hornsea sent two strong rinks to challenge the hosts and both rinks were tight throughout.
The Huddersfield rink of Josh Moore, Josh Talbot, Scott Smith and Terry Machen lost out by one shot, dropping a four on the last end. The Hornsea lead played especially well, putting his opponents under pressure end after end.
The rink of Duncan Wilson, Paul Sykes, Graham Howe and Jack Dyson lost by 10 after a close game until the last few ends. Despite Dyson's talent he could not turn around this losing position.
Huddersfield do not usually lose both rinks at home and it was credit to Hornsea, who opened up an 11-shot gap.
At Hornsea the contest was even closer but Huddersfield went down by 1 shot overall.
Colin Lloyd's rink of Peter Green, Harold Hick and Steven Haigh quickly gained a small lead and eventually triumphed by seven shots (Huddersfield's only winning rink).
The other Huddersfield rink of Roy Chapman, Dave Nicholson, Rob Beaumont and Damien Talbot shared the early exchanges but lost control during the middle period and their late revival was too little too late. They went down by 8 shots.
On the day Hornsea were too strong and thoroughly deserved their victory.
