Rare footage of Beatles in the snow to go to auction.

RARE Beatles footage filmed by actor Leo McKern is being put up for auction by his daughter.

The 8 mm film shows them messing about in the snow on an Austrian mountainside during the filming of Help!.

It has been stored in a cupboard for 40 years, but now the actor has died, his daughter, actress Abigail McKern says she is in ``dodgy financial circumstances'' and needs the pounds 6,000 that the film is thought to be worth.

A group of 19 rare photos will also be sold off, expected to also fetch pounds 6,000 at Bonhams in Knightsbridge on July 13.

McKern was a keen amateur photographer and played the cult leader Clang in Help! to which he took his daughter Abigail when she was ten. She said: ``I shared a toboggan with Ringo -we came pelting down a snow-coveredhill.

``My father said I mustn't pester them because their privacy was important to them. I got a signed Beatles photo.

Apart from occasionally showing it to friends, nobody has seen the film before.''

Despite acknowledging the Beatles valued their privacy, the artefacts will be available to the highest bidder.

Abigail,49,added: ``It just seemed crazy to keep it in a dark cupboard.''

She is appearing with Dame Diana Rigg in the West End but says as a theatre actress she does not make much money. Her sister is a filmmaker and also needs financial help.
