Rare 50-year-old single malt whisky costing Au10k released.
London, July 30 (ANI): A rare 50-year-old single malt whisky is being sold by Glenfiddich Distillery for 10000-pound a bottle.
The distillery is selling the whisky at the equivalent of 357-pound a dram and comes in a numbered bottle, which is hand-blown and decorated in silver.
The gift pack also includes a history of the whisky and a certificate allowing the holder to visit the distillery, where David Stewart, the master distiller, said, "they will be treated rather well", reports The Times.
Whisky expert David Broom said: The grandiose product had come at a time when there was an appetite for it, but 10,000 pounds is undoubtedly a steep price tag and I certainly don't have that amount to spend.
"There is a growing market for the upper strata of highly collectable, ultra expensive whiskies so this product has come at a good time."
Broom, author of books including Whisky; A Connoisseur's Guide and Handbook of Whisky, lavished praise on the malt but warned that age was "quite clearly not a determinant of quality".
"Rather it is to do with the quality of the cask. There are certainly 50-year-old whiskies out there for less than ten grand," he said. (ANI)
