Rapra conference focuses on TPEs.
Use of thermoplastic elastomers is said to be developing rapidly into a major success story, both as a replacement for vulcanized rubber and for totally new applications, according to Rapra. To meet these demands, TPE manufacturers and compounders are developing materials that offer improved application and processing performance.
This conference will open with market overviews from Robert Eller Associates and Barry Statham, setting the scene for the technical papers that follow. The focus will then move to the developments in thermoplastic vulcanizates with DuPont Dow Elastomers, DSM Thermoplastic Elastomers, Advanced Elastomer Systems and DuPont Engineering Polymers presenting material advances. Details of new innovation in styrenic block copolymers will be provided by Kuraray Europe and Goodyear Chemical Division.
On the second day of the conference, other aspects of TPEs will be considered, with papers on the characterization of elastomeric properties from the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrueck and Solvay Engineered Polymers, phase behavior and structure from the University of Manchester and Universite de Mons-Hainaut. A session on processing advances will also be held. The potential of processing additives will be covered with presentations from ExxonMobil and Schill & Seilacher. Profiling and molding technologies will be discussed by LWB Steinl, Demag Plastics Group and Sigmasoft. The second day will conclude with an analysis of the rubber markets by the International Rubber Study Group.
This conference is directed towards those involved in selling machinery, materials and services to the TPE market. Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available. Further information is available from Sarah Ward, tel.: +44 (0) 1939 250383; fax: +44 (0) 1939 251118.
