Rapper Bobby Shmurda Spent Christmas Behind Bars At Rikers Island.

Rapper Bobby Shmurda was in jail on Dec. 25, 2014 at Rikers Island. The rapper's attorney has confirmed the news. Also, the prosecutors have informed the (http://www.thefader.com/2014/12/26/bobby-shmurda-spent-christmas-at-rikers-island-attorney-confirms) Fader that Shmurda's lyrics will not serve as evidence.

On Dec. 17, 2014, Shmurda was held near Times Square outside Quad Recording Studios. The police rounded up 15 people near Quad and the website, the Fader, noted that it was due to the almost two-year-long investigation by the NYPD's Brooklyn South Violence Reduction Task Force. The investigation was conducted on East Flatbush crew GS9. The police force confiscated 21 guns and 10 of the guns were seized at Quad.

If Shmurda is found guilty of five charges on eight counts, he can be put behind the bars for eight to 25 years. Justice James Burke of Manhattan Supreme Court set a bail of $2 million.

The Fader talked to Shmurda's attorney Howard Greenberg about his client. Earlier, Greenberg stated that the rapper's record label Epic was working on his bail.

"There is no news. We're just trying to put something else together now," Greenberg said. The attorney also talked about why Shmurda was arrested by the NYPD.

"The government hates rap and the government hates rappers. They construct a narrative and add rationalizations to make it seem true. They recruit guiltless and loveless people to whom truth is meaningless and convince them to say what they want to say. These people are jealous of a brother on the way up."

Greenberg also commented about the indictment and called it a "bunch of bulls**t." He said that he analysed the indictment closely and it is nothing but just talking. He mentioned that his client should not be charged. The attorney also said that he is not going to "let them crucify Bobby Shmurda."
