The hot check charge isn't Beqiri's only legal trouble.
* In November, Indianhead Shopping Center in Sherwood sued Beqiri in circuit court alleging he failed to pay rent on space he occupied at 4218 E. Kiehl Ave., which, the suit says, was to be named Bruno's (again, NO relation to the well-known and well-regarded Bruno family who successfully operate Bruno's Little Italy).
In addition, Indianhead said Beqiri had misrepresented his identity by calling himself "Bruno Beciri," adding that "Bedri Beqiri misrepresented his identity to Indianhead in order to conceal his criminal record, which criminal record he never disclosed to Indianhead...."
(The docket report in Beqiri's most recent hot check case notes that Bedri Beqiri uses the alias Bruno Beciri, and he used the name Bruno Bedri Beqiri in his Thursday plea statement.)
Indeed, Beqiri has faced numerous criminal charges in numerous jurisdictions, ranging from parking in a fire lane to more hot check charges.
In December 2003, he was convicted of a felony hot check charge and received a sentence of five years' probation and ordered to make $6,436 in restitution. More hot check charges and at least one more guilty plea have followed through the years.
In February, Indianhead won a default judgment of $10,125 and attorney's fees and costs of $3,804.
* In March, Colonnade Shopping Center LLC of Little Rock sued Beqiri in circuit court over his alleged failure to pay rent on the bistro location on North Bowman.
Colonnade's suit said Beqiri owes $19,901 for rent and late charges as well as future rent due under the lease agreement, fora total claim of $149,048.
Colonnade says Beqiri vacated the premises without notifying the company and, in fact, opened a new restaurant, Italian Villa Pasta & Pizza Restaurant at 15228 Interstate 30 N. in Benton.
