Ransom set for Bold Marsh bid.

Byline: Garry Owen

BOLD RANSOM will face ten rivals in Haydock's Peter Marsh Chase as he bids to continue on an upward curve for trainer Keith Reveley.

The ten-year-old was a gritty winner over three and a half miles at Haydock last month on heavy ground and tackles Grade 2 company this afternoon.

The Saltburn trainer said: "He ran really well there last time, but it was a much smaller field over three and a half miles. He was given an easy lead and got into a lovely rhythm.

"This is going to be a different ball game altogether. It's just the bare three miles and they will probably go a much stronger pace. It's just whether he can find a rhythm and keep tabs on the main bunch."

A big danger to the selection is Henry Daly's Pearlysteps who was in the process of running a fine race over today's course and distance in December when falling at the last.

David Pipe's Consigliere could also be a threat if his stamina holds up on his first attempt at this trip.

? Ballyrock could put his Albert Bartlett claims on the line at Cheltenham next Saturday.

Tim Vaughan's novice was only a length behind Fingal Bay in the Challow Hurdle at Newbury last month and the trainer is keen to give his charge a prep run in the Neptune Investment Novices' Hurdle.

? Cristal Bonus made an impressive chasing debut at Chepstow yesterday.

Paul Nicholls' gelding travelled strongly throughout the digibet.com Beginners' Chase and jumped well under Ruby Walsh to rout Simply Wings.

The six-year-old was later cut to 20-1 from 25-1 by Stan James for the Arkle at Cheltenham.

? Paul Nolan's Noble Prince will face four rivals in the Grade 2 Normans Grove Chase at Fairyhouse tomorrow.

The eight-year-old, currently favourite for the Ryanair Chase, comes into the race on the back of two seconds behind Big Zeb this season.

His opponents include Galway Plate winner Blazing Tempo, Tranquil Sea, Psycho and likely outsider Saludos.
