Range Rover latest to get stuck on island.

A RANGE Rover has become the latest vehicle to get stuck on top of a bus station traffic island.

The 4x4 was spotted trapped on the raised curb of the pedestrian crossing outside Merthyr Tydfil bus station on Thursday morning.

Residents were keen to point out it wasn't the first time a driver had fallen foul of the two foot-high kerb. Others were quick to ask how drivers even manage to get themselves trapped in the first place.

Lee Heggie, 49, spotted the car stuck on the Castle Street entrance to the bus station.

"I was on my way to work after my lift dropped me off and suddenly I was looking at that," he said. "I came past about 10 past eight and stopped to watch them take it off.

"There has been quite a few cars gone over it. I think I have seen four or five over the years but there have been more than that.

"It should be painted bright yellow. Some cars come in and try to do a U-turn and end up like that."

While the kerb appears to have caught a few drivers off guard over the last few years, it could soon be a problem of the past.

Construction is expected to begin on a new multi-million pound bus station in the next few months.

It forms part of the town centre regeneration and will mean the current bus station site can be redeveloped for retail as well.
