Rambo to show his National credentials.

OPEN CHECK Jonathan Kay TOOLMAKER RAMBO, winner of the Derby Sprint at Towcester in July, can showcase his claims for the forthcoming National Sprint by overcoming the lack of previous course knowledge in Nottingham's 8.19 over 305m (live on SIS).

Paul Young's charge ended a losing run stretching back to that Towcester success when scoring easily at home track Romford recently and again has the benefit of trap one this evening. None of his rivals are in sparkling form, and a decent break can allow him to speed to the first bend then take total command at that point.

The main threat could come from Haydeezflyer, who has some decent bits of form although he has rather lost his way in the trapping department of late.

First of the Nottingham opens is a 680m contest at 7.48 in which Colin Wilton's Nanny Cakes is taken to make her class tell.

The draw could have been kinder for the Leger semi-finalist, but she should be capable of clearing the bend without major incident and can then open up on the last lap.

Alec Stone's Bandit Lad can make his track experience count in the opening heat of the Betfred Maiden 480m Trophy at 8.52, although clearing Castlehill Wally before the first bend is likely to be key to his chances.

An unfamiliar draw in one may work to the advantage of Carol Weatherall's Mustang Missile in heat two at 9.07, while Laurence Tuffin's Colston Magic is capable of opening his account in the third at 9.22, especially if brushing up his trapping.

There are also two opens after the SIS-covered section of the card with Young's Broadstrand Kiwi capable of taking what is effectively another National Sprint trial stakes over 305m at 10.00 which concludes proceedings.

He made a mess of the start when fancied for a hot twobend contest here on Eclipse final night last week, but had previously trialled well over the trip and is well worth another chance.

Jim Hayton's Lowgate Ginny is down in class and up in trip for a modest 680m contest at 9.41 and gets a token vote in a race which makes limited appeal as a betting medium.
