Raising funds.

Pulp, paper and lumber producer Tembec Inc. hopes to raise $20 million this year for its Temiscaming, Que. paperboard operation. The company says its new paperboard machine is producing high-quality cardboard at capacity, but it has had problems finding customers in a weak market. Tembec is talking to Jefferson Smurfit Corp., its partner in the paperboard plant, about ways to raise the capital, and it hopes to resolve the matter by the end of the year. In its second-quarter financial report the company predicted that the balance of the year does not look positive.
