Raise the Roof at St Luke's... 10-day arts and culture festival at Bombed Out Church.

If you thought it'd be impossible to Raise the Roof at the Bombed-Out Church - think again.

A 10-day arts and culture festival, featuring a programme of "great artistic and cultural diversity", launches at St Luke's later this week.

The festival will also see the church gain a roof for the first time since it was bombed during the May Blitz in 1941 - in the form of a transparent marquee.

a spokesperson for the Bombed Out Church said: "The church is appreciated for being an open air venue, but its events can at times be vulnerable to bad weather.

"The resident team at St Luke's want to exhibit that the space is also fully capable of hosting events that are rainproof, and can be adaptable to meet anyone's needs."

The festival will see the Bombed Out Church play host to everything from live music concerts and theatre productions, to craft fairs and wedding shows.

The church will also hold a public forum during the festival, which will allow members of the public to have their say concerning the Bombed Out Church.

twitter Join us twitter @LivEcho News Ambrose Reynolds, curator of Raise the Roof Festival, said: "The beauty of the space is that it can transform into anything, and play host to any kind of event."
