Rain to continue in Punjab, KP, Kashmir.

ISLAMABAD -- Monsoon rains will continue in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during the current week, giving relief to the people from hot weather. According to a Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD)official, scattered rain and thunderstorm is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Hazara, Malakand division and a few parts of Azad Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

Isolated rain and thundershower is likely in Multan and Sahiwal while drizzle is expected in the coastal area of Sindh during the next 24 hours.

The synoptic situation says that the easterly wave is penetrating into upper areas of the country.

Seasonal low is lying in north-west Balochistan. Monsoonal currents are penetrating the upper parts of the country from Arabian Sea and likely to continue during the next 24 hours.

The official said that there were some chances of isolated heavy falls at a few places in upper areas of the country on Saturday and Sunday. The ongoing rain spell is likely to continue during the whole week with occasional gaps.

The weather will remain hot and dry in most parts of Sindh and Balochistan during the next 24 hours.

The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was: Risalpur 71 mm, Mianwali 43 mm, Lahore 25 mm, Dir and Malamjabba 17 mm, Gujrat 16 mm, Islamabad 12 mm, Khuzdar 10 mm, Kakul, Hunza and Rawalpindi 01 mm.

The maximum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were: Islamabad 34 C, Lahore 35 C, Karachi 32 C, Peshawar 38 C, Quetta 39 C, Skardu 32, Murree 23 C, Muzzafarabad 37 C, Gilgit 36 C, Faisalabad 39 C, Multan 41 C and Hyderabad 36 C.
