Railways Workers' Union marks Labour Day.

KARACHI -- The Railways Workers Union on Monday observed the Labour day here.

A gathering was held at the Karachi Cantonment Station which was addressed by Qadir Khan Mandokhel Advocate, Qazi Naeem Advocate, Hafiq Mohammad Rafiq and others.

It was pointed out that the purpose of marking Labour day was to pay

tributes to the workers of Chicago in 1886 for the sacrifices they had rendered for the cause of the fellow workers.

The speakers demanded of the government that in view of the prevailing price hike, there should be adequate enhancement in the salaries and pensions.

They were of the view that the Railways Minister was already taking care of the workers and he should taken more steps for enhancing the standard of living of the labourers.

It was also demanded that technical allowance, night allowance and the required upgradation of the workers should also be announced at the earliest.
