Raiders threatened betting shop staff.

MASKED raiders who threatened betting shop staff with an axe and a baseball bat were being hunted last night.

The two raiders made off with a substantial amount of cash from the Manney Cookes betting shop in Thelwall Road, Ellesmere Port.

The robbers threatened the female members of staff and ordered customers out of the shop before breaking into the staff area. One of the women suffered minor injuries. The robbers struck about 9pm on Thursday, making off in a gold Vauxhall Cavalier towards Sutton Way.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to call the Western Special Investigations Unit on 01244 613131 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
