Raiders pushed gun in girl's back.

Byline: BY LIAM MURPHY Daily Post Staff

TWO masked robbers pushed a gun into the back of a teenage girl and marched her inside a supermarket during a raid.

The 15-year-old was left shocked and traumatised after being threatened during the armed robbery on Friday evening.

The youngster was outside the Co-op shop in Burtonwood, near Warrington, when the two men carried out the raid.

She had been near the entrance along with other passers-by when one of the robbers walked up to her, shoved a gun into her back and ordered them all inside.

They then threatened the girl and staff, as well as pointing the gun at the face of a 67-year-old woman customer in the shop, threatening staff and members of the public.

The two men, both described as white, with Merseyside accents and carrying a black hold-all and wearing dark clothing, escaped with the shop takings and ran off towards Clay Lane.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: "Prior to entering the store, one of the men produced a firearm and threatened a local 15-year-old girl who was standing near to the entrance.

"The man pushed the firearm into the girl's back and ushered her into the store together with several more members of the public. The offenders then threatened the staff and customers.

"The firearm was not discharged and none of the witnesses were physically injured, but they were left shocked and traumatised."

She added: "This is two members of the public who have been directly threatened by the offenders."

The girl was yesterday being interviewed by specially-trained officers and, along with others in the store at the time of the robbery, was being offered counselling.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the raid, which happened at about 8.45pm on Friday night, to contact them.

The spokeswoman said they also wanted to speak to anyone in the area around the time of the robbery who may have information about the raid.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact DS David Griffiths at the specialist investigation unit in Warrington on 01244 615842, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
