Raiders of the lost bat.

Canberra Raiders carried out an unsuccessful raid on the celebrating Aussie dressing room yesterday - and sparked an ugly shoving match.

A dozen of Mal Meninga's Super League side, wearing wigs and fancy dress, were invited into the Headingley locker room to join a champagne party.

But one of them took a liking to the famous green baggy caps and upset the cricketers by prancing around with it.

His team-mates grappled with him and for a few moments events looked like turning ugly until the rugby players were persuaded to leave.

As they left, a souvenir-seeker made off with Glenn McGrath's bat and when challenged by manager Alan Crompton said he had been given it.

Crompton quickly discovered he had been conned, chased after the rugby league star and told him as he grabbed it back: "You lied. Glenn didn't give you the bat, you stole it."
