Raid finds unlicensed machines.

POLICE hit the jackpot when they raided social clubs on the trail of illegal gaming machines.

The Greyhound Sports and Social Club, Ellesmere Port, was one of two clubs targeted for unlicensed machines.

Between the Thornton Road venue and another in Chester, five machines were seized last week along with their pounds 1,623 contents.

As a result, the people responsible for the machines must pay pounds 1,795 in back duty and pounds 1,250 in fines.

Investigations are now under way to see if any crimes or offences have been committed under the Gaming Act 1968.
