Radio Times covers the Euro '16 finals.

WITH three teams from the United Kingdom about to compete in Euro 2016 it is intriguing to see that the Radio Times, read throughout the UK, has already abandoned any pretence of impartiality. Its threelions bedecked cover, in my local mini-mart in Llandaff, has the headline, "Come On England". I did not buy a copy, so my apologies if this bias is addressed in other sections.

What is certain is that the magazine is on sale in a country that will play England in the tournament, its headline an irony that seems to have been lost on the journal.

I am old enough to recall the 1958 World Cup when, following England's elimination in the group stage, the BBC brought its camera team home and the Wales v Brazil and France v Northern Ireland quarter-finals were not shown live.
