Racing: VIEW FROM THE RING ..

Byline: Freddie Williams

I had a song in my heart after day two of the meeting, but the third day was a disaster.

It started off with JP McManus' Reveillez in the Jewson Novices' Chase, and there was a bet of pounds 600,000 to pounds 100,000, so we were half a million behind right away.

In the second race, the Ryanair Chase, we laid three horses - Our Vic, Impek and the winner, Fondmort - and lost a little on the race.

The World Hurdle was a good result, because we laid Baracouda, Golden Cross and Mighty Man. A good result, but nothing terrific.

Non So's win in the Racing Post Plate was good, because I fancied him very strongly and laid Billyvoddan, Napolitain and Ross River. All three got beat, so that was a good result there.

The National Hunt Chase saw us getting back on track, because

I laid Far From Trouble to pounds 5,000 and Wolf Creek to pounds 15,000, but the last result made it a terrible day. I laid Freetown and I laid Rooftop Protest, but I also laid the winner, Kadoun.

JP McManus had four runners in that race, but that was the only one I laid - pounds 5,000 each-way at 50-1.

A disaster!
