Racing: Pipe plays a full hand.

MARTIN PIPE appears determined to win the Sunderlands Imperial Cup at Sandown Park on Saturday as the champion trainer is responsible for more than a third of the 42 entries.

The Nicholashayne handler's 15-strong team in the pounds 60,000 handicap hurdle includes totesport Trophy runner-up Bongo Fury, Ladbroke Hurdle victor Tamarinbleu and Polar Red, winner of this race in 2002.

A maximum field of 24 seems likely with many trainers no doubt eyeing a pounds 60,000 bonus to the connections of the winner should the same horse go on to win at the Cheltenham Festival.
