Racing: Junior is on the upgrade.

DAVID JUNIOR can continue his rapid progression through the ranks by taking a starring role in the Listed Fink Gala Stakes at Sandown.

Brian Meehan thinks a lot of his charge, as he showed when throwing him in at the deep end in the 2000 Guineas on his first start this season.

And he was far from disgraced in the colts' Classic, either, finishing a five-length 11th on what was just the third run of his life.

The son of Pleasant Tap was doing all his best work at the finish and he showed he was suited by the step up to a mile and a quarter when romping to an eight length win in the Fairway Stakes next time out The Group One-entered chestnut should find this race well within his compass on the way to bigger things, possibly in America.

Rod Millman has been enjoying a fruitful time with his two-year-olds and Montzando holds every chance in the Listed Rathbone Dragon Stakes.

The Forzando colt hit the post on his first two attempts, but he came good over tomorrow's course and distance last time, beating Brandywell Boy and Zavone in good style.

Millman hopes Montzando will be one of his leading chances in the Weatherbys Super Sprint and he can book his ticket to Newbury with the in-the-news Darryll Holland in the plate.

At Beverley's evening meeting, Tabaret can land a first success in the Hull Mitsubishi 14th Anniversary Maiden Stakes.

Richard Whitaker's colt came close to a debut win when second in a decent contest on the Westwood despite missing the break.

But he showed his class with a really good run at Royal Ascot at York, finishing third to Titus Alone in the Windsor Castle Stakes.

Tabaret tried to make all there but found a couple too good. He should not face such problems today.

Haydock also have an evening card and Selika is expected to bounce back from a disappointing run to take the Claiming Stakes
