Racing: Direct show for Nicholls.
Claimer Tony Hamilton was seen to good effect as he forced Loyal Tycoon up close home to beat Middleton Grey by a neck in the six furlong test.
Nicholls was full of praise for the young rider and said: "Tony went out to Dubai about two and a half months ago, but all he was doing was track work so I told him he would be better coming back home.
"He is a very good rider, in fact he is as good a 5lb claimer as you will get and he showed it there.
"We have 77 boxes and they are all full again, the team includes nine two-year-olds which are going well and are well forward - they look a nice bunch and early sorts.
"So as well as Tony, I am sure that Claire Roche and Adrian Nicholls will ride plenty of winners for us this turf season, it is good to have three good youngsters in the team."
Mark Prescott's Young Collier, a half-brother to Champion Hurdle winner Collier Bay, outclassed his rivals to open his Flat account under Jamie Mackay in the betdirect.co.uk Handicap.
But he may not run again on the level as his owner Wally Sturt explained: "We may send him down to Jim Old, as jumping is what we bought him for - he is a lovely big horse."
