Racing: Bookies hit by monster gambles on Scots circuit.

MONSTER gambles have been flying around the Scottish betting ring this week.

Perth's two-day fixture was like a mini-Cheltenham with punters getting the best of exchanges.

Veteran rails bookie Norrie Drummond said: 'Nurses have been leading shattered bookmakers off the course in oxygen masks!

'There were a few new faces about and several big Irish punters came over for Perth.

'It has been a lively old week and Les Arcs took about 50 grand out of the ring at Hamilton on Tuesday.'

Some of the major individual bets landed this week included: PERTH - Cool Dante pounds 16,000pounds 4000ew; Square Mile pounds 3,000pounds 15000; Bob's Gone pounds 16,000-pounds 8000; Redskin Raider pounds 21,000 - pounds 12,000; Alfy Rich pounds 12,000-pounds 6000.

MUSSELBURGH - Bailieborough pounds 2700-pounds 1200; Shinko Femme pounds 5000-pounds 400; Archirondel pounds 2000-pounds 600.

HAMILTON Les Arcs pounds 22,500-pounds 10,000; Aahgowangowan pounds 5000-pounds 2000; Shivaree pounds 1750-pounds 1000.

The biggest recorded losing bet was pounds 4000 each way on Mazileo, second when falling at the last fence at Perth on Wednesday.

Irish raider Caislean Ui Cuain just failed to land a pounds 20,000-pounds 3200ew bet when second to Alfy Rich.
